Building Highlight - Sir Roland Wilson Building

The Sir Roland Wilson Building was designed by Daryl Jackson Alistair Swayn Architects and constructed by Manteena Construction Company from 1998.

The plaque for the building was unveiled by Lady Wilson in April 1999 and the building was opened in August 1999 by Prime Minister John Howard. It is currently occupied by Australia Asia Management, Humanities Research Centre (RSHA), the Freilich Foundation (RSHA), and the Institute for Professional Practice in Heritage and the Arts (RSHA) and the Research School of Humanities & the Arts (RSHA) – CASS and RSHA Directorate.

The Building was named after Sir Roland Wilson, a distinguished Australian economist and senior public servant.

The building’s design is based on Feng Shui principles and as such is unique to the ANU campus. The building has a collection of artworks in a range of styles and themes, and houses collection objects including Sir Roland Wilson’s personal papers, desk and chair.
