This large banner would have led members of the NSW Branch of the Sheet Metal Working Industrial Union in 'Eight Hours' parades in Sydney. It includes the female allegorical figures of Justice and Peace framing the central tableau of metalworkers, old and new. The landscape scene is probably Port Jackson, Sydney and it dates from 1919.
